Some people watch a lot of TV. Me? I just watch a lot of
Grey's
Anatomy. No matter what happens, Grey's is my show. And, in the event that there's nothing inspirational going on in my life, Grey's is also my remedy for writer's block.
This song was
written after a long drive in which I was speculating about the future of the Derek/Rose relationship (season 4) and Meredith's
place therein. 'Cause, let's face it--Derek's in love with Meredith. He always has been, and always will be. However, I
was intrigued by the notion of Derek marrying his perfect, cookie-cutter Juliet and missing his dangerous, baggage-laden Ugly
Betty. Meredith may come with more issues than National Geographic, but
Derek is not known for his ability to resist her--even when marriage factors into the picture.
The first time
he proposed infidelity (in an exam room that reeked of sex and sedatives), Meredith said yes. (Well, maybe she gasped it.)
In my scenario--and in episode 4.15--she says no.
'Cause, you know, after the dead mommy and the fake mommy and the near-death-whatever
and the therapy, Meredith's just not that girl.
